Our team have years of experience in restoring traditional leaded lights, re-using original glass to retain the character of the windows. We are also skilled in the repair of lead lights, and where possible aim to carry out repairs in situ. New leaded lights can be fabricated to fit both new and existing stone, wooden and metal frames. J.M. Glass can undertake all associated iron, stone and wood work; and work closely with local, experienced craftsmen to produce high quality work using traditional methods and materials.
Decorative Stained Glass
With hundreds of different coloured and textured glass types available, J.M. glass can create bespoke and completely unique decorative panels. We like our clients to be really involved with the design process, and invite them to our workshop to view our collection of coloured glass samples and design ideas to discuss what they want before we proceed to making.
Cathedrals, Churches and Chapels
J.M. Glass specialise in restoration of traditional glazing, and have had the opportunity to work on a variety of ecclesiastical projects over the years. We take time to survey the glazing and provide reports detailing the work required, and approach each project with care and consideration to ensure the authenticity and character of the original glazing is never compromised.
We can etch glass using a variety of techniques. We also create kiln-fired painted glass panes using traditional methods and techniques; carrying out simple designs in-house, and using a specialist stained glass artist for more detailed pieces.
J.M. Glass can supply and glaze mirrored glass, specialising in antique mirror. We salvage as much genuine antique mirror as we can, but when needed we can distress new mirrored glass using special techniques to create a beautiful aged effect.
As well as specialising in historic windows, we can supply and fit a range of modern glazing solutions such as double glazed units, safety glass, mirror, glass splashbacks, green house glass, and more. Jim has expertise in traditional face putty glazing.
